My weight story…why I became more health-conscious
Growing up, I never had to worry about what I ate. By the end of my senior year in high school I was a size 0 weighing about 107 pounds….but then came college.  I did indeed gain the freshman 15.  To lose it, I calorie counted all the time, I dieted and exercised a lot, and did lose more than half of the weight I gained, but then I stopped dieting and counting calories….and guess what happened??!! the weight came back.

My new outlook

I was fixated on my weight and pants size and thought that going back to a size 0 would make me happy. I realized that dieting, calorie counting, and extreme exercise was not going to work in the long run.I needed to make this a lifestyle change. Forget the scale, forget calorie counting, forget diets, forget everything.  Instead of worrying about my weight or pants size, I decided that I just have to let go, and be happy and healthy.

While trying to stay healthy and fit, I came across blogs of people who try to maintain balance in their lives, eat healthy, and exercise!  I’m beginning to learn a lot about whole foods and how to incorporate them into my diet.

I’m by no means an expert..and still have much to learn. I hope this blog will help me keep up the healthy lifestyle as well as a good outlook on life.

I’m a junior in college and trying to lead a healthy lifestyle can be hard sometimes. I’m a biology major and go to Penn State University in University Park. Though I was born and grew up in Houston, TX, I’ve lived in Pennsylvania most of my life.  Right now for the summer, I’m back in Houston, but will be going back to school very soon!
